How can this be comfortable III?

We have decided that our children are genetically pre-disposed to sleeping in a strange position(especially Charlie and Dalby). All three have chosen the same position.......(see Dalby's poses in bed and in the bouncy seat)

Most of the time Quinn sleeps like a soldier, but every once in awhile we catch her in "the pose".

Quinn rolled over once the same day and hasn't done it since. However, they are both laughing - if you really work at it.......

Chitter Chatter

We have a few talkers in this house. Marin Dalby has non-stop 3 year old discussions about all sorts of things, she makes us smile every day. Then we have little noises and coos. The older Charlie and Quinn get the more they participate in the conversation. Here are a few samples of their "talks". Notice in the video Quinn's constant movements. Charlie sits a little more still and his moves seem more deliberate. This is exactly what it felt like when they were in the womb. It literally felt like a spider moving nd then I had another feeling at different times of very slow but hard movements. Charlie's moves, as he got bigger, were quite painful, Quinn's movements never stopped!

All 29 pounds!!!

All 29lbs and 36 1/2" of Marin Dalby were busy making her 3 year check-up today awful!!! It all started of fine. We chatted with the nurse, got our height, weight, blood pressure, temperature and heart listened too. Then we sat and read while we waited for the doctor. Dr. Scott walked in and Dalby was "velcro child" as Dr. Scott called her. She did not let go, wouldn't look at him or talk.....so Dr. Scott and I talked about Dalby and then I went to take her diaper off so he could peek at her Sensitive Heiny Syndrome(SHS as he calls it). (We are in the middle of potty training. We wear a diaper when we go out because we haven't gotten the hang of it yet and I am not sure I could get us all to the potty in a timely fashion right now). Well Dr. Scott decided we should look at her ears, eyes and mouth first, neither of us taking note of the loose diaper. We started with the stethoscope and the SCREAMING, excuse me, the all out temper tantrum began. She was a nightmare. She slipped and scooted and shimmied her way out of all of my grasps and at one point ended up sliding down my leg.....and at the time she yelled, "I got to go potty", which was quickly followed by an extremely wet floor and lap. We finished the appointment with the doctor and had to wait for the nurse for her Hep A shot. I cleaned up the mess we made, wiped myself down a bit and proceeded to scowl at my daughter. Next the shot, which seemed easy compared to what I had just done. The nurse came back in after the shot to give her a treat. She said, "You can have two treats today." I looked at Dalby and said(very sternly), "You may pick one since you were good for the shot, but you were not good for the doctor." For some reason Jennifer(Dr. Scott's nurse) didn't argue:). We then went out of the exam room and apologized to Dr. Scott. As we were standing in the hallway we ran into a friend who had heard the whole appointment, not realizing it was Dalby who was screaming next door. She just gave me a hug and a nod of motherly sympathy. NOT A FUN APPOINTMENT!!!!! Dalby will be going with me to the babies' appointments so she may see the doctor several times before her next check-up.

Playscape!!!

My parents are great at finding deals....this deal was hard to beat - especially for the TN Luttentons:) My dad saw an ad in the hardware store in MI that posted a playscape for free as long as you moved the playscape out of the owner's yard. 10 hours of de-construction later the playscape was at my parent's house. My dad power washed it and re-stained the entire set. My mom carefully marked all of the bolts and screws so it could be re-assembled. Fast forward to the entire playscape fitting into my parent's minivan with them driving 10 hours with a 13ft slide between the two of them and you have the pieces below in our yard. Now add in a sunny 95 degree day with high humidity, very helpful and kind neighbors with the necessary tools and a 3 year old who can't wait for HER playground to be "maked". 6 hours later the playscape was together complete with the beginning of an in ground sandbox under the tree house and three very tired and sweaty gentleman. It looks so good in our yard and Marin Dalby is over the moon for her "swinged set and sride"(swing set and slide).

Dalby's birthday celebration lasted almost a week this year. Actually the discussion and anticipation for her birthday began about a month or so ago when Ryan and I had our birthdays. Her birthday began with a cake and ice cream birthday party that we had on the Saturday before her birthday. The party was very casual and HOT!!! Dalby loved her cake! She likes Mickey Mouse and we found a template online on how to make Mickey's face. Ryan and I love to tackle cake decorating(once a year or so, see Dalby's and Aunt Annie's cake from last year) and so we decided it would be fun to try....especially because Bumpa and Mary were here to help us with the kids and the project! It was a Team Luttenton project and we were really happy with the look and taste of our Mickey cake.

Also on her birthday we got to go to "Water Park Wed"(

more on that in another post), but Courtney made cupcakes to celebrate. Then we came home, had a quiet time got up had dinner and had another cake and opened presents. This year was particularly fun to watch gift opening. Dalby squealed at each gift and at one point said to one of those gifts, "I wanted this all the time."

It seems lately we have had not shortage of things to cook for and our little baker loves participating. Although I am not sure the motivation doesn't come from the fact that she gets to lick the spoon and taste test our project.

Mother's Day

Mother's Day this year snuck up on me. I didn't even realize it was Mother's Day until the week before when I happened to catch a bit of a Mother's Day TV commercial. I don't get to watch much TV and haven't seen the news but maybe two times in the last 10 weeks. I have a few TV shows I really like to watch and we DVR them so I see them in pieces as I pump. However I do tend to watch Glee in its entirety(my TV treat). However I am up on my episodes of Imagination Movers, Sesame Street and Clifford:) The only thing I wanted to make sure we did on Mother's Day was to get a picture of me with the children and a family shot. The first picture is me with the babies because Dalby did not seem interested in sitting or listening for the picture. Her motivation came when she realized she wouldn't be in the picture and then she sat down and started posing.
